Jonathan Says PDP Has The Best Ideology

The Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, at the welcome ceremony organized for the members of the All progressives Congress (APC) and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Imo State that defected back into the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stated and severally reiterated that the PDP remains the only political party with the best ideology.

The defected members of the opposition parties were received by the president at a unity rally organised by the PDP, held at the Dan Anyiam stadium in Owerri, the Imo state capital.

President Jonathan also urged all Nigerians to support the PDP in order to continue to enjoy the dividends of the transformation agenda of his administration. “The People’s Democratic Party is the only party that has stability and ideology to deliver the dividends of democracy to Nigerians,” he told the new party members.

The president arrived at the Sam Mbakwe airport in Owerri alongside the Vice President, Namadi Sambo, the Senate President, David Mark, the PDP National Chairman, Adamu Mu’azu, top politicians and party devotees at the national level and members of the Federal Executive Council. He was received at the airport by the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, with members of the state executive.

The president preceded to Dan Anyiam stadium the venue of the rally where thousands of party supporters were waiting dressed in colourful attires to receive the president.

The arrival of the president signaled the commencement of the rally, with different speakers given the opportunity to address the gathering which is aimed at receiving top politicians in the state who decamped from their other political parties.

While congratulating the converts for finding their way back to the party, President Jonathan said: “The PDP is the only stable party in Nigeria that gives opportunity for a level playing ground for everybody. It is a party that respects the rule of law and democratic principles. Continue to support our transformation agenda which is aimed at transforming the lives of all Nigerians”.

Other party leaders that spoke maintained that the rally would go a long way to strengthen the PDP in Imo State and give credence to their quest to clinch the number one seat in the state in 2015.
